As an integral member of the IT Operations Team, Esteban Hernandez has been working with CoreTech for nine years. His passion for IT started in junior high and has expanded ever since!
Growing Up
I’m originally from Lamesa, Texas, a small town about an hour outside of Lubbock. I have four older sisters, and one of them bought me my first computer when I was in 8th grade. I enjoyed doing a lot of website research and learning about technology. At the time networking was new, so I was online learning how networks were designed and how they worked. It was something I really enjoyed doing. I became pretty good at accessing networks, just to prove I could do it.
Information technology became an actual gig in high school. After being caught accessing the school network on a dare from other kids, the IT Director spoke with me. He asked me to show him how I did it. I demonstrated, and he recognized I was a smart kid needing a good outlet for my skills. He hired me into the IT department, and I worked with them during my senior year.
The IT Director encouraged me to pursue a career in technology. I went to college in Sweetwater, TX, and the rest was history.
Work
As a Systems Administrator at CoreTech, I handle escalations and special requests in the Operations Team. I enjoy figuring out technology challenges, and it’s satisfying to know I’ve solved a client's problem. I enjoy the flexibility of working at CoreTech and on a great team of knowledgeable people.
Family
My wife, Michelle, and I first met when I was working for an IT managed service provider (MSP) in Lubbock. One of my clients was the local hospital where she worked as a nurse.
We moved to Omaha in 2016, and I started working for CoreTech. I enjoy the colder weather in Omaha, and we often visit the zoo. Omaha has a lot of outside activities that the younger boys enjoy.
We have four kids and one granddaughter. My daughter, Dominique, is busy at college and is a Resident Assistant at the school dorm. My son Alex really enjoys basketball, and I often coach and referee for the YMCA in Gretna. My son, Derrick, is now into Esports. My daughter, Amiah, recently finished college and keeps in touch. She is a big help with her younger brothers and helps when the boys need something.
