6 easy things you can do with Skype for Business37759423_s.jpg

For those of you that are not familiar with Skype for Business it is a communication app that lets you connect with fellow co-workers, business partners or clients in your company, around the United States or world.

Skype is part of the Office 365 package and works with your other Office programs. Let’s explore six basic features of Skype Business.

  1. Instant Messaging -  The most basic function of Skype for Business is instant messaging which can be done within your business/organization or with other users outside of your business that are also using Skype for Business.   A transcript of your IM conversation is saved for later viewing and reference.  This is helpful if you were given some information that you did not make note of at the time of your conversation but realize you would like at a later date.
  2. Improve your mobile experience – As we continue to become more and more mobile we can use Skype for Business to keep in touch with your office using your laptop, tablet or smart phone.  This allows for mobile IM’s along with video conferencing and file sharing from anywhere.  Also your conversation transcript moves with you from one device to another.

58800790_s.jpgWard off intrusions with two-factor authentication

I recently came across a website with some great information on two-factor authentication (also known as 2FA or TFA). You've more than likely experienced two-factor authentication at one time or another when logging into a Microsoft or Google account, and yet, should you consider it for your business? Yes, definitely.

Protecting your business

Although an additional security step in the login process, two-factor authentication is quick and worth it. Two-factor authentication is being widely adopted because it contributes to more secure systems at the network and desktop level.

Take a look at this website to learn the basics of two-factor authentication and then contact us

62461020_s.jpgHow to attract millennial talent to your workplace in 2016

Is putting forth the effort to attract and hire millennials really worth it? If you knew that they will make up half of the global workforce by 2020 you would definitely think so. It’s true, as more and more millennials are entering the workforce, it is important to understand how to interest and hang onto these valuable assets. So what is the best way to go about this?

Before we look at some things you can do to attract millennials, let’s take a step back to find out what these individuals value in a company. The 54 million adults aged between 18 and 34 in 2015 have a lot of commonality in what motivates them to choose a workplace. One of the biggest factors that the majority of them agree on is their need to grow. Many millennials are looking for opportunities to help them climb the ladder, even if it means climbing out of your company. They are also looking for a “sense of purpose” in a company, or a chance to be a part of something bigger than just company profit. Finally, they are looking for a coach rather than a boss, someone to lead not just command.

So as a business, how can you become more attractive to this potential workforce considering their wants and needs? Let’s explore some options.
