What is Cloud Computing?
The term refers to any application or service delivered over
a remote connection, typically the internet, says Chris
Vilim, president of CoreTech. Applications and services are
hosted outside your hard drive, server or storage device and
are accessible 24/7 via a web browser on any device
(desktop, laptop, PDA, smartphone, etc.)
Why do I need to pay
attention to Cloud Computing?
Cloud Computing or "the cloud" not only provides tangible
benefits, it also gives small and midsize businesses the
resources to further innovate. The articles in this issue
outline the benefits available--all great reasons to learn
more about Cloud Computing. Keep in mind, your business
needs to be evaluated based on your specific goals as Cloud
Computing is not necessarily a solution that is for every
environment.
Is help available?
We are a resource to help you evaluate Cloud Computing. If
it's the right solution for your business CoreTech is able
to help plan, design and deploy Cloud Computing strategies.
In addition, we also provide solutions through our network
of well-established, outside vendors in order to fulfill
your objectives, maintain functionality, and make sure
security measures are in place. |

Cloud Services May be a
Game-Changer for Business
The article re-printed courtesy of
IBM ForwardView eMagazine
Midsized
companies are moving toward an infrastructure that is
optimized and responsive to help them meet new business
demands. This article in our series looks at the
short- and long-term benefits of cloud computing and how
midsized companies can start integrating some cloud services
into their existing IT environments.
In an increasingly
interconnected world, the number of interactions among
devices and systems is growing rapidly. As these connections
multiply, businesses need to meet the demands of employees,
partners and customers for greater access to systems and
information. This environment places more pressure on
midsized businesses and their IT resources.

Cloud Computing for Small and
Midsize Businesses
reprinted with permission from the HP Small Business Center
You've
no doubt heard a lot about cloud computing (or the cloud).
What you may not have learned is how this misty concept can
help with the real problems of operating your business,
especially in hard times.
In short, cloud
computing offers attractive options for small and midsize
businesses that need critical IT upgrades, but may lack the
cash for a large capital investment.

News. . .
My How Life Has
Changed!
This year, CoreTech is celebrating our 10-year
anniversary! Our business has changed so much over the
years as we have adapted to providing more services and
increased our knowledge of new technologies. In looking
back at our own business, we can’t help but wonder how
our clients’ processes and technology have changed over
the past 10 years as well. We caught up with St. Luke
United Methodist Church about changes they’ve
experienced in the past 10 years.
Sherrie
Lindsey, Administrative Director, St. Luke United
Methodist Church
St. Luke United Methodist was founded in 1963. Their
rich history has given them numerous opportunities to
serve the community and adopt technology as they see it
impacting their members and beyond.
How have
things changed?
Internal and external communications have changed in
order to reach one another more quickly and send
personalized messages to those that are involved in
specific areas. In the past 10 years, there has been a
shift from phone, print and mailed communication to
email and Web site communications.
