My How Life Has Changed!
This year, CoreTech is celebrating our 10-year anniversary! Our business has changed so much over the years as we have adapted to providing more services and increased our knowledge of new technologies. In looking back at our own business, we can’t help but wonder how our clients’ processes and technology have changed over the past 10 years as well. We caught up with CETAC Technologies about changes they’ve experienced in the past 10 years.

Founded in 1987, CETAC Technologies of Omaha has become a worldwide leader in sample handling and sample introduction equipment for elemental research analysis. Laboratory technicians, chemists and lab managers use CETAC products to quickly and accurately identify elemental trace levels in substances. The industries that purchase their products and services include semiconductor manufacturing, environmental analyzers and petrochemical manufacturing. In 1988 CETAC began to expand worldwide and currently has offices in the United Kingdom, Germany and Singapore.

How have things changed?
Communications and the way CETAC does business has changed significantly. It used to be that when email was down 4-5 hours no one noticed. They worked on non-computer related projects and paper work. Now, work comes to a grinding halt. Through technology tools, accomplishing training and reaching customers on the other side of the globe occurs very quickly! The ease of passing information on to clients has amplified the speed of a sale as well. Placing a PDF brochure in the hands of a potential client in Italy through a Blackberry resulted in a much quicker sale than would have occurred in the past.

“Video saves us a significant amount of travel time and expense as well,” said Dan. “Product devices can be configured and training and education occurs through video transmission and taped segments instead of sending a staff person to a customer’s location.”

Online email tools have also facilitated communication with customers and potential customers. CETAC easily sends out information on products, technical descriptions and training via Constant Contact. Previously, faxes were sent. Some communication is still sent by fax because a few foreign governments require it, however most communication is via email, video and social media. CETAC researchers are now using Facebook and other social media avenues to have discussions and answer questions.
